Bone Soup (Sup Tulang) is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It’s simple, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. It is enjoyed by millions daily. They are nice and they look fantastic. Bone Soup (Sup Tulang) is something that I’ve loved my entire life.
To begin with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook bone soup (sup tulang) using 22 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.
The ingredients needed to make Bone Soup (Sup Tulang):
- Get Step 1
- Get 2 kg Soup Bone (see pic)
- Prepare Enough water to boil the meat
- Take Step 2 Spices
- Take 4 Star Anise
- Take 4 Cardamoms
- Get 4 Cinnamon Sticks
- Take Step 3 Blend
- Get 2-3 tbsp Kurma powder (see pic)
- Prepare 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- Take 2 big brown/yellow onion
- Get 4 garlic
- Get 2 " ginger
- Take 1 big green chilli
- Take 5 bird eyes chillies (more for extra punch)
- Make ready 1 tbsp Pepper (finely crushed using mortar & pestle)

- Get 2 sticks carrot - cut
- Prepare 3 big potatoes - cut into cubes
- Prepare 1 tbsp rice flour/corn flour
- Get To taste - Chicken Seasoning powder
- Take To taste - salt
No big bowls of piping hot soup (which is reminiscent of its cousin dish - Kambing Soup (Mutton Soup)) here. Instead, you have this glorious looking plate of mutton bones more akin to a stew. Beef Bone Soup aka Sup Tulang is another Malaysian all time favorite. There are a few version and most popular are the Mamak Style or the typical Malay style.
Instructions to make Bone Soup (Sup Tulang):
- Prepare all ingredients: 1. Clean meat then boil until tender. Make sure enough water covering the meat. Using fine sieve, Remove all the grimes on the surface of the meat soup in between boiling. Once boiled, then simmer over medium heat. Meantime, prep the rest. 2. Blend ingredients. 3. Prep carrot & potatoes. 4. Dilute rice flour/corn flour in a 1/2 cup of cold water.
- Preheat 2-3 tbsp of cooking oil before adding ingredients in step 2. Fry for a minute or less then add ingredients from step 3, keep stirring until translucent & aromatic. Turn off the heat. Pour this into meat pot & stir to combine.
- Add in ingredient from step 4. Season to taste. Let this bone/meat soup simmer to perfection.
Beef Bone Soup aka Sup Tulang is another Malaysian all time favorite. There are a few version and most popular are the Mamak Style or the typical Malay style. Sup Tulang, literally Bone Soup in Malay, usually refers to beef soups which are made with beef that is still attached to bones. I did not have any bones, I use beef shanks instead - making it Sup Daging (Beef Soup in Malay). Sup Tulang (Beef Bone Soup) is an aromatic beef soup flavoured with spices like coriander, cinnamon, chilli, onions and aniseed.
